Hitting the streets with The New Democrat
October 12, 2009
I’m two shades darker and my face more freckled than a couple of weeks ago. No, it’s not because I’ve been frolicking at the beach. It’s because I’ve been moving from place to place in the blazing noon sun to sell The New Democrat (TND).
It’s been exhausting as my colleagues and I have been standing at street corners and hawker centres to sell my party newspaper. But this is necessary. With all the demonization, persecution and then black out by the local media about the SDP, this is the only way we can get accurate information out to the public.
Almost invariably, strangers come up to tell us that they support us or push a $10 note into our hands and tell us to keep the change.
Even though it sometimes gets gruelling, my colleagues and I will continue to ensure that the TND gets into the hands of as many people as possible.
Here is a promotional video for The New Democrat:

Hello Ms Chee,
My utmost respect and support for your course. It is an uphill battle that I pray you will win eventually.
You may like to know that you have the sympathy and support from most of us “Quitters” in Canada.
May God bless you.
Yours truly

Good job! It is good to have more voices around Singapore
BTW, are you going to present anything at this conference? http://www.iacsit.org/cgghr/index.htm

Wing Lee,
Thanks so much for your note of encouragement.
I think the term Quitters was something Goh Chok Tong coined for those who do not want to be a part of this PAP controlled society.
I hope Canada’s been good to you.

Hi Paul,
Thanks for the heads up about the conference and also for the support.
Will be writing my thoughts on the acquittal and AG’s appeal soon.

Ms Chee,
How can i get a copy of The New Democrat? it is highly unfortunate that i didn’t even know that SDP was selling its newspaper last october. If information and views from opposition continues to be suppressed, the majority of the public will not be able to understand the true political situation in Singapore.
